What is serendipity? The dictionary defines it as “the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.” Finding something good without looking for it. “Right place at the right time.” A “your chocolate is in my peanut butter” thing. The opposite of the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
Serendipity is also said to be one of the most difficult words in the English language to define because it is so magical in its nature. How do you explain finding something when you are not looking for it?
I guess you could call it chance, coincidence, fate. But even those three things can be non-serendipitous in nature at times.
A lot of people call love serendipitous. I would say that my relationship in many ways was. I was not looking to find anything when I met my husband. I was trying to get myself out of a bad relationship, that was very messed up. I was not looking for love when it found me. I did not want love when love found me.
Madeleine Kay is known as the Serendipity Lady. Madeleine believes we create serendipity in our lives. I think she may be correct in that.
